データ解析による「プロフェッショナル」の生成実験（2014）
真鍋大度のブログデータは、NHK「プロフェッショナル 仕事の流儀」において、「真鍋大度にとっての“プロフェッショナルとは何か”」を生成・可視化するための分析データとして活用されました。
本プロジェクトでは、以下の3種類のテキストデータを横断的に解析しています。
- 本ブログに蓄積されたテキストデータ
- TEDに代表される、プロフェッショナルが登壇するトークイベントの発話データ
- 過去に「プロフェッショナル 仕事の流儀」に出演した人物の発言・テキストデータ
これら三者に共通して出現する言語的特徴や構造を抽出することで、「データとして記述可能なプロフェッショナル像」が立ち上がるのではないか、という仮説のもと、解析と文章生成を行いました。
自動生成される「プロフェッショナルの言葉」
2013年当時、過去の発話・文章データを用いて“プロフェッショナルらしい言語表現そのものを自動生成する”という試みは、まだ極めて実験的なものでした。
Broadcast Visualization Test
番組の問いである「プロフェッショナルとは何か？」に対し、主観的な解釈ではなく、データ解析による構造の可視化というアプローチを採用し、その結果を生放送の中でリアルタイムに提示する演出が行われました。
また、この仕組みを放送内の演出に留めるのではなく、誰でも体験できる形へと拡張する試みとして、Webサイト上で「真鍋大度のプロフェッショナル像」を自動生成できる仕組みを構築し、一般公開しました。分析・生成のプロセスそのものを開放することで、「プロフェッショナルとは定義可能なものなのか」という問いを、視聴者やユーザー自身が直接検証できる場を提示しています。
制作の裏側にあった、もう一つの目的
この生放送の制作過程では、番組演出と並行して、将来の大規模パフォーマンスに向けた技術的検証も進められていました。
- 紅白歌合戦で構想されていたドローンを用いた演出
- 2014年1月2日放送のNHKスペシャルに向けたパフォーマンス
これらを見据え、NHKスタジオを数日間使用し、以下のような実験が集中的に行われました。
- モーションキャプチャーシステムの設置と検証
- ドローン飛行のテスト
- カメラへの各種センサーの装着
- 空間合成・AR的表現の試行
- 生放送環境を想定した実運用テスト
表向きは番組制作でありながら、その裏側では、放送・ライブ・インスタレーションを横断する表現技術の実戦的なリハーサルが同時に進められていたのです。
Generating “Professionalism” Through Data Analysis (2014)
Text data from Daito Manabe’s blog was used in the NHK program Professional: Shigoto no Ryugi as analytical material to generate and visualize the question: “What does ‘being a professional’ mean for Daito Manabe?”
This project cross-analyzed three distinct types of textual data:
- Texts accumulated on this blog
- Speech data from professional talk events, such as those represented by TED
- Texts and statements from past guests of Professional: Shigoto no Ryugi
By extracting linguistic features and structural patterns that commonly appeared across these datasets, the project explored the hypothesis that a “professional profile” could be described and reconstructed through data.
Automatically Generated “Professional Language”
In 2013, attempts to automatically generate language that sounds or behaves like that of a professional based on historical textual data were still highly experimental.
Broadcast Visualization Test
Rather than relying on subjective interpretation, the program adopted an approach focused on visualizing structural patterns through data analysis. The results of this analysis were presented live on air, in real time, as part of the broadcast.
Beyond the television program itself, this system was extended into a publicly accessible form. A website was created where anyone could generate “Daito Manabe’s professional profile” using the same underlying mechanism. By opening the analytical and generative process to the public, the project offered viewers and users a direct way to question and examine whether “professionalism” can, in fact, be defined through data.
A Secondary Objective Behind the Production
Alongside the broadcast production, the project also functioned as a technical testing ground for future large-scale performances.
- A drone-based performance concept planned for NHK’s New Year’s Eve music program
- A performance scheduled for an NHK Special broadcast on January 2, 2014
In preparation for these projects, NHK studios were used for several consecutive days to conduct intensive experiments, including:
- Installation and testing of motion capture systems
- Drone flight experiments
- Mounting sensors on cameras
- Trials of spatial compositing and AR-like visual expressions
- Operational testing under live broadcast conditions
While presented outwardly as a television production, the process simultaneously served as a full-scale technical rehearsal for expression techniques spanning broadcast, live performance, and installation work.
